Abstract

Automatic c-axes analyzers have been developed over the last years, leading to a large improvement of the available data for the ice crystalstexture analysis. Such an increase of the quality and quantity ofthe data allows for stricter statistical estimates. The current texturalparameters, i.e. fabric (crystallographic orientations) and microstructure (grain boundaries network), is presented. These parameters define the state of the polycrystal and give information about the deformationundergone by the ice. In order to take into account the ability arising from automatic measurements, some parameter de nitions are updated and new parameters are proposed. Moreover, a Matlab toolbox has been developed to extract all the textural parameters. This toolbox, that can be downloaded online, is briefly described.
